Boys Soccer Championship, and Busy Week-end with Parking Issues

On Saturday, Nov 7th the boys soccer team claimed back-to-back Class B Championships by defeating Erskine Academy, 3-0, at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. The victory marks the sixth state championship in the past twelve years for YHS. The team overcame significant injuries to key players to finish the season with a 16-1-1 record. Congratulations to Coach Mike Haggerty, his assistants, and a fine group of young men.

The football team continued its march toward a state championship by defeating Fryeburg Academy, 54-12, in the Class C South Semi-finals last Friday night. The team now faces tough rival Wells in the Regional Finals on Saturday. Tickets for the game can be purchased in advance at the YHS Athletics Office on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Tickets cost $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for students & seniors.

Due to the performances of "Shrek The Musical" this week-end, the game will be played at 12:00 noon on Saturday here at YHS, two hours before the matinee performance of "Shrek." Anticipating parking problems at YHS, school buses will shuttle people to YHS from the I-295 Park & Ride lot, and the parking lots at Yarmouth Elementary School and Harrison Middle School, starting at 11:00 am. You are encouraged to use the shuttles. The front parking lot at YHS will be reserved for those attending "Shrek."

Last, but not least, the Girls Cross Country team, winners of the Class B State Championship two weeks ago, will travel to Thetford, VT on Friday to compete in the New England Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Good luck ladies.
