Girls Ski Team Wins Class B State Championship

For the fifth straight year, the Yarmouth High girls ski came home with the Class B State Championship held at Black Mountain in Rumford and Mt. Abram over February vacation. In a dominating performance, the team placed first in all four of the disciplines which comprise the skiing championships: giant slalom and slalom in Alpine, freestyle and classic in Nordic.

The boys ski team placed second to Falmouth overall, finishing sixth in the Alpine and second to Caribou in the Nordic. Ben Woodbury '11 placed third in the Skimeister competition.

Other Results:

Boys Basketball - Finished the regular season with a 16-5 record. The team advanced to the Western Maine Class B final, losing to Cape at the Civic Center. They had beaten Mountain Valley in the quarterfinals and Greely in the semifinals.

Girls Basketball - Regular season record of 1-17.

Boys Hockey - Regular season record of 10-8. The team qualified for the Western Maine Class B tournament as the #4 seed. They lost to Greely in that game, 4-2.

Girls Hockey - Regular season record of 4-11. The MSPA awarded the team its Western Class B Sportsmanship trophy.


Boys Swimming - Devon Bray, Ian Edgecomb, Dan Grover, Dale Klingensmith, Ethan Nightingale, and Luca Seid all qualified for the state meet at UMO on Saturday, February 19th. The team placed ninth in the field of twenty-six schools.

Girls Swimming - Abby Belisle Haley, Adrianne Copeland, Haley Estabrook, Caihlan Snyder, Teagan Snyder, and Libby Thompson all qualified for the state meet at UMO on Saturday, February 19th. The team placed sixth out of the nineteen teams entered. Abby Belisle Haley, daughter of Lisa Belisle '88, placed second in the 100 Fly and third in the 100 Backstroke.

Boys Track - Placed 11th of 16 teams in the State Class B Meet. Asa Arden '11 placed third in the Long Jump, qualifying him for the New England Meet.
