YHS Teams Prepare for Play-offs

The YHS fall sports teams are nearing the end of regular season play. All the teams have recorded impressive results so far, and are play-off bound.

Field Hockey Despite moving up to Class B, the team has had a banner season, with a record of 9-1-1, including their first victory over Falmouth in many years.

Football The team is undefeated after five games, with the 16-15 victory over Wells on the Friday of Homecoming the highlight. Some tough games remain, with a showdown with undefeated Cape on October 16th predicted to be a barn burner.

Boys Soccer The record stands at 10-1 with three games remaining, including rematches with Greely and Falmouth. The only goals the team has allowed occurred in their 2-1 loss to Waynflete on September 25th.

Girls Soccer After a slow start, this young team is improving, and has evened their record to 4-4-3 with three games remaining.

Boys Cross Country The team has placed second in its first two WMC meets. Luke Laverdiere '17 has won both those races.

Girls Cross Country Building on last year's strong season, the girls have won both their WMC meets so far. Led by Abbi Hamilton '16, the team has a lot of depth and experience.

Golf The golf team ended the season a couple of weeks ago with a 6-4 record. They missed qualifying for the States by two shots in the WMC meet at Willowdale on October 5th.

Volleyball This program continues to grow and prosper. The team currently sports a 7-3 record, with the only losses coming at the hands of Class A schools Greely, Scarborough, and Falmouth.
