In general, the YHS teams have performed well this spring, posting winning records and qualifying for their respective tournaments. Here is a run-down.
Baseball: Regular season record = 9-7. They enter the Class B South play-offs as the #9 seed and will play a preliminary game against # 10 Spruce Mountain on June 5th.
Softball: Regular season record = 9-7. Entering the play-offs as the #8 seed, they will play #9 Cape Elizabeth on June 5th.
Boys Lacrosse: Finishing the season with an 8-4 record, the #3 Clippers will face # 6 York on June 8 in a Class B match-up.
Girls Lacrosse: The team compiled a record of 10-2 during the season. Losing only to the two top teams in Class A South, they enter the Class B play-offs as the #1 seed, and will play the winner of the Brunswick/Cony game on June 9 in the quarterfinals.
Boys Tennis: Regular season record = 9-3. After defeating Gardiner in the Class B South quarterfinals, the #3 Clippers lost to #2 Freeport in the semis.
Girls Tennis: Regular season record = 8-4. Seeded #6, the girls lost to #3 Cape Elizabeth in the Class B quarterfinals.
Boys Track: The team tied for 6th with Greely in the Class B State Championship. Luke Laverdiere ’18 capped off his remarkable running career by winning both the 1,600 and 3,200, repeating in both events. Tahj Garvey ’18 repeated as champion in the 400.
Girls Track: The team place 24th of 26 schools in the Class B meet.
