At their Awards Banquet on January 27 at the Italian Heritage Center, the Maine Association of Police Chiefs named Yarmouth police chief Mike Morrill ’75 Chief of the Year. A member of the Yarmouth Police Department since 1977, Morrill was named chief in 2002. He has been a member of MCOPA since 1992.
Ever humble, in an interview reported in the February 9th edition of The Forecaster, Chief Morrill cited working with his fellow officers and other town staff as two of the best parts of his job, stating that “…I love this community,,,,Not only do I work here, but I live here.” Morrill is married to Heidi Smith Morrill ’76. Their sons, Justin ’05 and Matthew ’09, were top soccer players for the Clippers, and both are assistants to boys soccer coach Mike Hagerty.
