After thirty years of teaching and leadership in the Yarmouth schools, Betsy Lane has announced that she will retire at the end of this school year. Betsy commenced her career in Yarmouth in 1987 as a third grade teacher at the Yarmouth Elementary School. In 1999 she become Assistant Principal of the Harrison Middle School. In 2009 she moved back to YES as principal.
In an interview carried in the January 19th Forecaster, Ms. Lane tells of how much she loved the job of working with young children, endeavoring to get to know them on an individual basis. She has loved the variety of the job, and has connected with students in the halls, the classroom, the play ground, and even invites them to her office for lunch.
Betsy’s son Matt ’96 and his wife have three children, whom she now will be able to see more often.
