With regular season play in the books except for football, most of the fall sports teams are headed for the play-offs. Victories have exceeded defeats by a wide margin this fall, and all the teams hope this continues.
Field Hockey: The team’s 10-3-1 record earned them 2nd place in the Heal Points. They commenced their play-off run with a 5-3 Quarter-final victory over #7 Leavittt yesterday, October 18th. On Friday, October 20th they face #3 see Poland in the Semi-finals. Should be a great game, as the teams split during the regular season.
Football: The team won its first game last Friday against Gray-New Gloucester. The close out the season Friday, October 20th against Freeport in the Battle of the Bay.
Golf: The team placed 7th out of 10 teams in the Class B State Championship at Natanis on October 7th. In the Individual Championships on the following Saturday, Ethan Haag shot a 79 to finish in a tie for 7th, and Mac Leahy’s 81 put him in 16th place.
Cross Country: Both teams will run the Class B Regionals on Saturday, October 20th, and in the States on the following Saturday.
Volleyball: Losing only to Cape Elizabeth in a 13-1 season, the team will play a Class B Quarter-final match against #7 Ellsworth on Saturday, October 21st.
Soccer: Both the Boys and the Girls completed undefeated seasons in Class B South, with matching 14-0 records. The Girls open their title defense on Tuesday, October 24th against the winner of a preliminary game between Spruce Mountain and Wells. On Wednesday, October 25th, the boys will play the winner of a preliminary game between Oak Hill and Freeport as they seek their fourth consecutive state championship.
